I know what you’re thinking. Velveeta? Like the cheese? Trust me on this one–Yes.

When you think of Velveeta, your mind may go to queso or other cheesy dips. But this surprising secret ingredient is actually perfect for delicious, chocolate fudge.

Let’s be honest, it’s not the first time a seemingly strange combination has just worked. Like Rotel Cream Cheese Sausage Balls, Peeps Rice Krispie Treats or Cheddar Bay Sausage Balls, this recipe calls for ingredients that at first glance seem like a weird combo but the end result is incredible!

The truth is in this recipe you can’t taste the Velveeta at all. The flavor melts away in all the beautiful chocolate. What the Velveeta really brings to this recipe is creamy moisture and a soft, chewy texture that is perfect for fudge. If you’ve ever felt frustrated that your classic fudge was too chalky or crumbly, this Velveeta Fudge is the answer you’ve been looking for.

Can I Substitute the Velveeta?

You cannot remove the Velveeta from this Velveeta Fudge. The Velveeta’s purpose is not to provide flavor, but texture. There is not another cheese that will work in the same way. If you would prefer to make fudge without Velveeta I recommend this Carnation Fudge.

Can You Freeze Velveeta Fudge?

Yes, this fudge does freeze well. Place it in an airtight container or wrap it in plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for up to three months. Allow it to defrost in the refrigerator. It also keeps well at room temperature for a week or in the fridge for up to two weeks.
