Stuffed Celery
Stuffed Celery is an amazing and healthy snack or appetizer, full of delicious savory flavors. Cream cheese, ranch seasoning, cheddar cheese and bacon cover a crisp, fresh celery stick. It takes just minutes to put together and even less time for them to disappear!
A party is not a party without plenty of food, but if you’re the one entertaining, chances are you could use a few good snack or appetizer ideas that are easy to make but also crazy good.
I’m always a fan of meaty appetizers like these Cheddar Bay Sausage Balls or Garlic Parmesan Chicken Skewers, or a good dip like my 5 Minute Cottage Cheese Dip and Cream Cheese Salsa Dip. But right alongside these gems, you need some good finger food options and these stuffed celery sticks are it!
Stuffed celery consists of fresh celery sticks, filled with a creamy and savory mix of cream cheese, cheddar cheese, bacon, ranch seasoning, and chives. It’s the perfect snack or appetizer to put together when you want all the flavor but with a slightly healthier twist.
This guilt-free snack takes just minutes to prepare, or can even be prepared ahead of time so it’s ready to go as soon as the party arrives!
Why Make This Recipe
- No Guilt: This snack has all the flavor of potato skins, but without the extra fat of chips or crackers. Celery is the perfect vessel for all this creamy goodness!
- Quick and Easy: It just takes minutes to make stuffed celery, so this is great for a last-minute appetizer or to fix a late-night craving
- Insanely Delicious: Who doesn’t love ranch and bacon? If you love savory flavors, you will love this recipe!
Ingredients for Stuffed Celery
Here is a visual overview of the ingredients in the recipe. Scroll down to the recipe at the bottom for quantities.
- Celery Stalks: I buy them already cleaned in a bag, but you can also buy a head of celery and cut off the top and bottom of each stalk!
- Whipped Cream Cheese: Allow your cream cheese to come to room temperature to make mixing easy. I love the light and airy texture of whipped cream cheese, but you can also use regular. If you use whipped cream cheese, you can mix this easily by hand.
- Ranch Seasoning Mix: You can use any powdered ranch seasoning. I used Hidden Valley.
- Bacon Bits: Save time by using a package of bacon bits, or for extra flavor, make your own.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese: You can grate your own cheese or use packaged shredded cheese. You could also substitute Colby Jack if you don’t have cheddar on hand. Use your extra cheese to make these Rotel Cream Cheese Sausage Balls!
- Chopped Chives: Fresh chives add to the fresh flavor of this snack.
Recipe Variations
This recipe is easy to customize to your liking. You can add even more flavor with a dash of hot sauce, chopped up ham, red onions, pickles, pecans or olives.
How to Make This Recipe
Step 1: In a small bowl, add the softened cream cheese, ranch seasoning mix, bacon bits, shredded cheddar cheese and chives.
Step 2: Mix to combine.
Step 3: Spread the mixture into the hollow part of the celery heart. Enjoy!
Expert Tips
- If using block cream cheese, it’s much easier to mix it if you allow it to come to room temperature first! If you are using whipped cream cheese, you will be able to mix it right out of the fridge.
- Make sure your celery hearts are cleaned and dry before you begin filling. If your celery hearts are still a bit moist it can be difficult to get the cream cheese mixture to stick.
Recipe FAQs
Absolutely! Celery is a pretty hearty vegetable, so it should stay crisp and delicious for up to three days.
I would recommend storing your cream cheese mixture and your celery separate from each other so you can keep your celery sticks in a bit of water (to keep them crisp) and also keep your cream cheese in an airtight container (to prevent it from drying out).
When you are ready to serve, simply spread your mixture into your celery sticks.
This recipe makes a great snack or appetizer. If you’re serving it as an appetizer, I recommend serving it alongside other savory appetizers like Mexicali Dip or Corn Fritos Dip.
It would be great for a game day snack or an appetizer for a holiday feast!
