It’s the time of year when a nice hot, cozy drink always sounds like a good idea. But what do you make when hot cocoa  just doesn’t sound appealing and you’re trying to avoid the caffeine in coffee or tea?

May I present to you: Caramel Milk. This recipe is incredibly easy and the result is a delicious treat that will warm you from the inside out.

Sweet, creamy caramel sauce melts perfectly into warm milk and the simple ingredients create a treat anyone can enjoy. The best part is you can enjoy it hot or cold!

If you’re looking for a new warm sweet treat to try out this holiday season, add this one to your list and I’m sure you will not regret it.

Why Make This Recipe

  1. Caffeine Free: Most sweet drinks sold in coffee shops are packed with caffeine. This treat is a great choice for a cozy night in when you want to snuggle up but not be kept up.
  2. Easy Recipe: At its heart this recipe just calls for two main ingredients, caramel and milk. The rest just adds to the fun.
  3. Delicious Flavor: For anyone who doesn’t like chocolate or coffee, this drink is the way to go. It has all the flavor of caramel and all the comfort of winter time.

What Do You Need To Make This Recipe?

Ingredients

Labeled ingredient sot of caramel milk
  1. Milk: I recommend 2% or whole milk but you can use creamy oat milk or whatever else you have on hand.
  2. Caramel Syrup: You can make your own homemade caramel sauce by slowly cooking sugar over medium heat and adding heavy cream. For an easier option (what I’ve done here), you can simply purchase pre-made caramel syrup from your grocery store. This recipe calls for ¾ cups of caramel which ends up with a strong caramel taste, but is also rather sweet. If you want a more subtle caramel taste and not as sweet of a drink, use ½ cup of caramel.
  3. Salt: Just a pinch of salt brings out the flavor of the caramel. A little extra salt will make it taste like salted caramel, which is another delicious option.
  4. Whipped Cream: Optional, for topping
  5. Cinnamon: Optional, for topping

Tools

  1. Small Saucepan
  2. Whisk: Use a rubber whisk if your saucepan is non-stick! A metal whisk will ruin the nonstick finish.
