Equipment

  • Small Saucepan
  • Whisk

Ingredients

  • 3 cups milk, 2% or whole milk
  • ¾ cup caramel syrup, ¾ cup of caramel ends up with a strong caramel taste but is also rather sweet. If you want a more subtle caramel taste and not as sweet of a drink, use ½ cup caramel
  • ¼ tsp salt, use ½ tsp salt for a salted caramel drink
  • Whipped Cream, for topping (optional)
  • Cinnamon, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  • In a medium pot, add the milk, caramel, and salt over the stove on medium-high heat.
  • Heat, stirring constantly, until the ingredients combine and the milk begins to steam.
  • Pour ½ of the caramel milk into each mug. Allow it to cool slightly, top with whipped cream and cinnamon if desired and enjoy!

Notes

Recipe copyright The Domestic Spoon. For educational or personal use only.
  1. Milk: I recommend 2% or whole milk but you can use creamy oat milk or whatever else you have on hand.
  2. Caramel Syrup: You can make your own homemade caramel sauce by slowly cooking sugar over medium heat and adding heavy cream. For an easier option (what I’ve done here), you can simply purchase pre-made caramel syrup from your grocery store. This recipe calls for ¾ cups of caramel which ends up with a strong caramel taste, but is also rather sweet. If you want a more subtle caramel taste and not as sweet of a drink, use ½ cup of caramel.
  3. Salt: Just a pinch of salt brings out the flavor of the caramel. A little extra salt will make it taste like salted caramel, which is another delicious option
  4. You can also serve this cold if desired. In that case, simply mix the salt and caramel syrup into your cold milk and serve!
  5. Feel free to adjust the amount of salt or caramel to your preference.
  6. If you would like some caffeine, try adding Caramel Milk to your black tea for Caramel Milk Tea. How to Make a Single Serving
Use 1 ½ cups of milk with 6 Tbsp of caramel and a pinch of salt.
