Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl Large recommended
  • Electric Hand Mixer You could also use a Kitchen Aid if necessary.

Ingredients

  • 1 box Funfetti Cake Mix
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • tsp salt
  • 8 oz Cool Whip
  • ½ cup milk, whole or 2%
  • Colorful sprinkles, for serving

Instructions

  • Heat treat 1 box Funfetti cake mix by microwaving the powder for 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow the cake mix to completely cool before moving on.
  • Beat the 8 oz cream cheese and 1/8 tsp salt together until creamy. Then add the cake mix and beat again until combined.
  • Add ⅓ of the Cool Whip into the cake mixture and beat until combined. Add the next ⅓ and beat again. Add the remaining cool whip and beat with the electric hand mixer until just combined.
  • Pour 1/2 cup milk into the cake batter mix and whip again until combined.
  • Place your dunkaroo dip in a serving dish and top with extra colored sprinkles to serve. Enjoy with graham crackers, waffle cone pieces, oreos, strawberries, pretzels, and more.

  • Funfetti Cake Mix: Choose your favorite brand. You just want the powdered mix, unprepared. You can also use white cake mix. but you will need to add some vanilla extract and sprinkles to achieve the birthday cake flavor.
  • Cream Cheese: I always feel that full fat cream cheese makes for a creamier, more delicious dip but feel free to use reduced fat if you like. Soften your cream cheese before preparing!
  • Cool Whip: Again, here is an opportunity to make a lighter swap by using light cool whip if you prefer. Don’t forget to thaw your Cool Whip ahead of time!
  • Milk: I recommend using whole or 2% for the best flavor.
    Colorful Sprinkles: For serving
  • Many dunkaroo dip recipes call for some vanilla yogurt. You can substitute some of the milk for yogurt if you prefer a thicker dip and the subtle tang of yogurt.
  • You can mix sprinkles into the dip if you want more color, but I recommend you do so carefully. The color in sprinkles will easily bleed and mix and you don’t want that. Sometimes heat treating the batter will make the sprinkles less vibrant.
