Equipment

  • Baking Sheet

Ingredients

  • 4 slices white bread
  • 4 Tbsp salted butter, softened
  • 2 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 4 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Move the center rack of the oven upwards, so that it is now close to the coil at the top of the oven. Turn the oven to a low broil and allow it to heat up while you assemble the bread.
  • Brush about 1 Tbsp of butter over each piece of white bread. Then sprinkle ½ Tbsp of granulated sugar over the bread, and ¼ tsp cinnamon on top.
  • Place the bread slices on a cookie sheet and place them on the top rack in the oven. Allow the bread to broil for about 5 minutes, until the outside edges are toasty and the sugar has bubbled and browned. Keep a close eye on your bread so that it doesn’t burn.
  • Once toasted, remove the bread from the oven. Allow it to cool for about a minute, then enjoy!

Notes

Recipe Copyright The Domestic Spoon. For educational or personal use only.
  • White Bread: You can use any soft sandwich bread you enjoy, though we used Pepperidge Farm white bread. Make this recipe super simple by picking up your favorite brand at the grocery store or step it up a level by making your own homemade bread or using thick slices of brioche.
  • Salted Butter: You want your butter nice and soft so it spreads easily on the bread without tearing it.
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Ground Cinnamon: I have measurements listed but feel free to measure with your heart
  • Make sure you keep a close eye on your toast while it is toasting. Some oven’s broil features will burn things very quickly.
  • If you like your bread a little more toasty, you could toast one side in the oven, then flip it over and add the butter, sugar and cinnamon to the other side.
  • You can substitute brown sugar for white sugar for a richer flavor
  • You can play around with your ratio of cinnamon to sugar. If you like it a little sweeter, use more sugar. If you like a little more spice, add more cinnamon or a dash of nutmeg.
