Equipment

  • 9x13 Baking Dish

Ingredients

  • 8 tbsp 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 12 oz Hawaiian Rolls
  • 9 oz deli ham
  • 8 oz swiss cheese
  • ½ tbsp poppy seeds

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, dijon mustard, worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and onion powder. Whisk to combine.
  • In a 9x13 pan, spread half of the butter mixture on the bottom.
  • Use a serrated knife and cut the hawaiian rolls in half, horizontally. Place the bottom half of the Hawaiian rolls in the pan.
  • Layer the deli ham and swiss cheese on top of the bread.
  • Place the top of the bread on the sandwiches, then spread the other half of the butter mixture on the bottom and sides of the bread. Sprinkle with poppy seeds.

  • Once preheated, place the sandwiches in the oven and heat for about 15 minutes, until golden brown. Serve and enjoy!

  • Butter: I prefer unsalted but you can use whichever kind you have on hand.
  • Dijon mustard: You could substitute stone ground, brown or even yellow mustard in a pinch!
  • Hawaiian Rolls: Stick with light and fluffy Hawaiian rolls. Crusty rolls will not work!
  • Deli ham: For a sweeter flavor you can use honey ham or go more savory with smoked ham. Any ham will do!
  • Swiss cheese: You could also use provolone or havarti.
  • If you’ve got picky eaters you can easily leave the poppy seeds off the top!
  • It may be easier to cut the finished sliders with a serrated knife. It is also easiest to cut the rolls in half with a serrated knife.
  • If your sandwiches are burning before the cheese fully melts, cover the top with some aluminum foil.
