Notes

Recipe copyright The Domestic Spoon. For educational or personal use only.
  1. Boxed Brownie Mix: Feel free to use whatever brand you like best. Do not add any ingredients to the mix, you will just be using the powder.
  2. Cream Cheese: Allow your cream cheese to come to room temperature when making this recipe. Full fat cream cheese will give you the creamiest flavor but feel free to use the reduced fat if you want. I do not recommend using any spreadable cream cheese as they are too soft and your dip may end up runny.
  3. Salt: Just a pinch really helps bring out the flavors
  4. Cool Whip: Make sure you leave your cool whip in the fridge overnight or on the counter for a few hours so it can completely thaw before you need to use it. You could use homemade whipped cream but using Cool Whip or premade whipped topping makes it easy and allows the dip to hold up better over time.
  5. Mini Chocolate Chips: For topping
  6. You want to use just the brownie mix powder for this recipe. Do not add the oil and eggs that make the brownie mix into batter.
  7. If you notice any lumps in your brownie mix it may be a good idea to sift the powder before adding it. You don’t want any lumps in the final dip!
  8. Allow your cream cheese to come to room temperature before whipping it. This will help it whip up with ease and prevent lumps as well.
  9. For even more chocolatey flavor try adding a teaspoon or two of cocoa powder. Don’t add too much or your mix may end up chalky!
  10. Use a rubber spatula to scrape all the sides of your mixing bowl well as you mix up your cream cheese. Make sure it is all the way whipped and creamy before adding anything else.
